Winter ’26 “RenAIssance” by Shopify
The Winter ’26 “RenAIssance” site by Shopify is a long scroll through a modern-day art piece: giant classical portraits with glowing halos, ornate gold borders, clouds and figures swirling around. The whole thing is a one-page journey with huge fonts and rich 3D accents with clouds that float by, bits of baroque frame that pop into view, soft lighting shifts, and a vibe that feels part gallery, part tech demo. There’s subtle parallax throughout, and transitions are smooth enough that you barely notice how much is moving behind the scenes.
It’s powered by a custom WebGL/WebGPU setup, though the code is packed tight and the dev team hasn’t published much publicly. Judging by the effects, they’re likely using modular shaders for the glow and refraction layers, plus some procedural tricks for particle motion and mesh distortion. The clouds especially feel like a fragment-shader playground, where they're semi-transparent, volumetric, and reactive to scroll. There’s no repo to browse, but dev tools are your friend: pop open the console, step through the network requests, and you’ll find a stack of carefully orchestrated canvas magic.
Seriously, give it a spin: it’s a neat playground of WebGL/WebGPU artistry, and I guarantee you’ll find something new every time you look.
