A 2D paper canvas tearing open to reveal a hand-drawn 3D corridor lined with pencil-sketched picture frames that fill in with color as the viewer approaches.
Tomasz Szmajda's portfolio opens with a small act of vandalism: a sheet of paper tears itself in half and the 3D world spills out behind it. GSAP drives the rip, the camera glides through, and you land in a hand-drawn corridor with doors leading off to a gallery, a studio, a contact room, and an about room. The frames lining the walls start as pencil sketches. Walk up to one and the color paints itself in, like the drawing is finishing itself while you watch.
The whole thing has the feel of someone who cared about the seams. The 2D-to-3D handoff is the loading screen. The sketches becoming paintings is the navigation. Nothing announces itself as a transition because everything is one. It runs smoothly on a phone, which is the part that took the actual work.
Worth a slow walk. Poke around the corridor, open a few doors, and if you like what you see, the source is on GitHub.
